Jiuzhaigou, Nine Village Valleys

Glacier-carved valleys holding more than a hundred named lakes

A valley system where water is the only architect: lakes stacked like glazed tiles, falls stitched between them, and forests that catch fire each autumn.

Spring

Jiuzhaigou, Nine Village Valleys

City anchorJiuzhaigou County

Best time
Mid-October for the color peak; late spring and deep winter for solitude.
Stay
One to two days

A way throughOne valley per day: Zechawa for Long Lake and the high lakes, Shuzheng for the stacked lakes by the road, Rize for the falls and primeval forest.

On the wayFly or take the rail link to Huanglong Jiuzhai station, then road transfer into the valley; park shuttles handle the valleys themselves.

With respectThis is a protected reserve: stay on boardwalks, never touch the water, and no drone flying anywhere in the valley.

Long Lake in Jiuzhaigou: snow peaks and dark conifer forests ringing a high alpine lake of glassy water.Real scene

Seasonal experience

First shuttle of the day

Ride to Long Lake before the light arrives

Take the first shuttle up the Zechawa valley to Long Lake, stand with the snow peaks for twenty minutes before any tour group arrives, then work downhill lake by lake.

Why now
Early cold air holds the lake surface mirror-flat, and the snow peaks still carry last night's light.
Time needed
Full day for two valleys; one valley minimum
Plan before you go
Daily visitor caps apply; book entry online in advance and confirm shuttle schedules by season.
